Delirium: By Lauren Oliver

Hey readers, the new book this month is Delirium. This is a great dystopia book that those of you who liked the Giver will love.

Delirium takes place in an alternate U.S. in a dystopian society where love is disease called amor deliria nervosa. From the time that you are born boys and girls aren't allowed to be together and are segregated. Additionally,  parents aren't allowed to show signs of love to their children. Also music and books are regulated by the government. Everyone is set up to believe that love can kill them and it is forbidden. At the age of 18, it is mandatory for everyone to receive the cure. Lena has been looking forward to being cured of the disease for years because she has been subjected  to its evil by the government. Lena saw what love did to her mother and is desperate to be cured, so as to not follow in her footsteps. Just a little while before her procedure when Lena ends up meeting a boy named Alex, everything is changes for her.

I hope you all read this book because I loved it. Although it was your typical dystopian society book there are some twists that I know you all will enjoy! FYI there are two sequels to this book, Pandemonium and Requiem, and I did not like them very much but you are welcome to give them a try.

Your Friend,
Rae Sparks
